Negotiation is the ability to solve interpersonal problems and conflicts, by being assertive and cooperative, using logic and persuasion. It is the ability to be respectful and to disagree without threatening the wellbeing of others. It involves defining the problem, identifying a strategy and to proceed, keeping in mind the complexity of the emotions involved and the consequences for both parties. It requires persistence while interacting with the people involved and engaging with the process until a conclusion is reached.

Negotiation skills can help change attitudes, prevent or manage disagreements and misunderstandings, and improve relationships. They enhance our abilities to protect ourselves from exploitation, abuse and bullying.

The person will be able to:

  • Listen to others’ points of view attentively.
  • Be respectful of others’ views and concerns, even while disagreeing.
  • Prevent or manage disagreements and misunderstandings.
  • Use verbal arguments over violence.
  • Apply logic while presenting their arguments.
  • Identify the root problem in a conflict situation.
  • Change others’ attitudes to align with their own ideas.

आत्मविश्वासपूर्ण आणि सहकार्यशील राहून तार्किक विचार आणि मन वळवण्याच्या कौशल्याचा वापर करत परस्परातील समस्या आणि संघर्ष यांचे निराकरण करण्याची क्षमता म्हणजे वाटाघाटी होय. वाटाघाटी हे इतरांच्या स्वास्थ्याला बाधा न आणता असहमती दर्शविण्याचे आणि आदरपूर्वक व्यवहार ठेवण्याचे कौशल्य आहे. यामध्ये समस्येचे नेमकेपणाने आकलन व तिचे निराकरण करण्यासाठी धोरण निश्चिती करून उभय पक्षी होणारे संभाव्य परिणाम व त्यातील भावनिक गुंतागुंत लक्षात घेऊन समस्या सोडविणे या बाबींचा अंतर्भाव होतो. यामध्ये वाटाघाटीत सहभागी असणाऱ्या व्यक्तींशी प्रभावीपणे संवाद साधणे आणि समस्या निराकरण होईपर्यंत चिकाटीने संवाद सुरू ठेवणे यांचाही अंतर्भाव होतो.

वाटाघाटी कौशल्य दृष्टिकोन बदलण्यात, असहमतीच्या आणि गैरसमजुतीच्या मुद्द्यांचे व्यवस्थापन किंवा प्रतिबंध करण्यात आणि नातेसंबंध सुधारण्यात मदत करू शकते. आपल्याला शोषण, गैरवर्तन आणि छळणूक यापासून सुरक्षित ठेवणाऱ्या क्षमता समृद्ध करण्यातही हे कौशल्य मदत करू शकते.

प्रभावशाली ढंग से बातचीत करना

यह एक ऐसा कौशल है जो पारस्परिक समस्याओ व संघर्षो का समाधान करते हुए तर्कपूर्ण व सहयोगपूर्ण रहते हुए स्वयं को अभिव्यक्त कर पाने में मदद करता है। यह दूसरों को डराये धमकाये बिना उनके विचारो से सम्मानपूर्वक असहमति दर्शाने कि योग्यता है। वार्तागत समस्या तथा उसके परिणाम और भावनाओं की जटिलता का ध्यान रखते हुए समस्या की व्याख्या करना उसे सुलझाने के लिए नीति का प्रयोग कर आगे बढना। समस्या से जुड़े हुए लोगों से निरंतर प्रभावशाली वार्तालाप करते हुए इस प्रक्रिया में लगे रहना जब तक अंत में उसका समाधान नहीं मिलता।

समझौता वार्ता करने का कौशल हमारे दृष्टिकोण को प्रभावित करने, असहमति व ग़लतफहमी को  रोकते या नियंत्रित करने एवं संबंधो को सुधारने में मदद करता है। यह हमारी उन क्षमताओं को निखारता है जिसके द्वारा हम शोषण, अत्याचार, दुर्व्यवहार, छेड़छाड़  जैसे बातों से अपने आप को बचा सके।

प्रभावशाली ढंग से बातचीत करना इस कौशल के व्यवहार में

व्यक्ति यह करने में सक्षम हो सकेगा :
• ध्यानपूर्वक दूसरों के नजरिये को सुनना।
• असहमत होते हूए भी दूसरों के मतो, चिंताओं के प्रति सम्मानपूर्वक रहना।
• असहमति तथा गलतफहमियों को रोककर उसको प्रबंधित करना।
• शारीरिक हिंसा की अपेक्षा शाब्दिक तर्कों का उपयोग करना।
• तर्क वितर्क के समय तर्कसंगत सोच का इस्तेमाल करना।
• संघर्ष की स्थिति में उसका मूल कारण पहचानना।
• दूसरों के नजरिये को अपने विचारों के अनुसार बदलना ताकि वे अपने खुद के विचारों से अपने आप को समानान्तरित कर सके।
