Social Awareness

noun | [ soh-shuhl ] [ uh-wair-nis ]

Social Awareness is the ability to form connections and work with people from diverse backgrounds in terms of religion, caste, gender, socio-economic strata, geographical location etc. It is the ability to understand, empathise and accept people and practices that are different from our own. It is also the ability to recognise and exercise our rights and duties as responsible citizens.

Social Awareness includes being sensitive to local and global environmental concerns, being aware of and involved in addressing social issues, respecting and protecting the rights of others, especially those of vulnerable populations (women, children, elderly, people with disabilities, economically and socially marginalised communities etc.), thus contributing to the collective wellbeing of society.

Social Awareness In Action

The person will be able to:

  • Recognise ways in which they and their peers are similar and different.
  • Express interest in getting to know their friends’ native language and cultural practices.
  • Articulate how a diverse set of friends or members in a team enhances their perspective and life in general.
  • Determine the commonalities amongst diverse people – their basic needs, emotions, expectations from others etc.
  • Analyze their community’s or neighbourhood’s needs/problems and put together a plan to address those.
  • Recognise the vulnerabilities of others and be willing to accept, protect and even help, if needed.
  • Show awareness of specific social causes, take a stance and use concrete steps towards addressing them.
  • Get involved in organizations and civic bodies that help and contribute towards various social and environmental causes.

धर्म, जात, लिंग, सामाजिकआर्थिक वर्ग, भौगोलिक स्थान इत्यादी संदर्भात विविध पार्श्वभूमी असलेल्या लोकांसोबत संबंध निर्माण करण्याची आणि त्यांच्या सोबत काम करण्याची क्षमता म्हणजे सामाजिक जाणीव होय. आकलनाची, सहानुभूतीची आणि आपल्याहून भिन्न असणारे लोक आणि त्यांच्या जीवनशैली स्वीकारण्याची क्षमता म्हणजे सामाजिक जाणीव होय. एक जबाबदार नागरिक म्हणून आपले अधिकार आणि कर्तव्ये ओळखणे आणि त्यांचा वापर करणे या क्षमतादेखील सामाजिक जाणिवेत समाविष्ट असतात.

सामाजिक जाणीव या क्षमतेत स्थानिक आणि जागतिक पर्यावरणातील घटकांबद्दल संवेदनशील असणे, सामाजिक प्रश्नांविषयी जागरुक राहून ते सोडविणे, विशेषत: असुरक्षित लोकसंख्येतील घटक (महिला, मुले, वयस्कर, दिव्यांग, आर्थिक आणि सामाजिकरीत्या उपेक्षित समूह इत्यादी) यांच्या अधिकाराविषयी आदर दर्शविणे आणि त्यांचे अधिकार सुरक्षित ठेवणे या सारख्या सामाजिक स्वास्थ्याच्या घटकांसाठी एकत्रितपणे योगदान करण्याचा समावेश होतो.

सामाजिक जाणीव या कौशल्याची व्यवहारातील अभिव्यक्ती

हे कौशल्य आत्मसात केलेली व्यक्ती पुढील गोष्टी करण्यासाठी सक्षम झालेली दिसते.

  • समवयस्क व्यक्ती आणि आपण स्वत: यांच्यात कोणत्या गोष्टीत साधर्म्य आणि भिन्नता आढळते हे ओळखणे.
  • मित्रांची स्थानिक भाषा आणि सांस्कृतिक रीतीरिवाज याविषयी माहिती मिळवण्याची आवड असणे.
  • मित्रांच्या गटातील विविधता किंवा अशा गटातील सदस्य असणे हे आपले दृष्टिकोन आणि एकूणच संपूर्ण आयुष्य कशा प्रकारे समृद्ध करते, या विषयी व्यक्त होणे.

सामाजिक जागरूकता

सामाजिक जागरूकता धर्म, जाति, लिंग, सामाजिकआर्थिक स्तर, भौगोलिक स्थान आदि विविध पृष्ठभूमि से जुड़े हुए लोगों के साथ संबंध बनाने तथा उनके  साथ काम करने की योग्यता  है यह योग्यता अपने से अलग लोगों तथा कार्यप्रणालियों  को समझने, उनके साथ समानुभूति रखने तथा उन्हें स्वीकार करने की योग्यता है यह एक जिम्मेदार नागरिक के रूप में अपने अधिकार और कर्तव्यों को पहचानकर उनका उपयोग करने की योग्यता भी  है

सामाजिक जागरूकता में स्थानीय तथा वैश्विक प्राकृतिक मुद्दों के प्रति संवेदनशील होना, सामाजिक मुद्दों के प्रति जागरूक रहकर उनके बारे बातचीत करना, दूसरों के अधिकारों का सम्मान कर उनकी सुरक्षा करना विशेष  कर समाज के कमजोर वर्ग जैसे महिलाएँ, बच्चे, बुजुर्ग, दिव्यांग, आर्थिक और सामाजिक रूप पर पिछड़े वर्ग समुदाय अदि इस तरह इन सभी की सामूहिक भलाई के लिए योगदान देना शामिल है।

सामाजिक जागरूकता इस कौशल के व्यवहार में

व्यक्ति यह करने में सक्षम हो सकेगा :
• स्वयं खुद तथा अपने समवयस्कों में विभिन्न तरीकों से समानताऐं और असमानताऐं पहचानना
• अपने मित्रों के गाँव की भाषा तथा संस्कृति को जानने में रूची रखना
• विभिन्न वर्ग के मित्रो या समुदाय किस तरह दृष्टिकोण तथा जीवन को समृद्ध करते है उसे स्पष्ट रूप से व्यक्त करना
• समुदाय आस-पड़ोस की जरूरते या समस्याओं का विश्लेषण करना और एक योजना द्वारा उनका समाधान करना
• विविध लोगों की समानताएँ जैसे मूलभूत जरूरतें, भावनाएँ, दूसरों से अपेक्षाएँ आदि को निश्चित करना
• आवश्यकता पडने पर समाज के कमजोर वर्ग को स्वीकार कर सुरक्षा देना तथा समय पड़ने पर उनकी सहायता करना
• समाज के खास सामाजिक मुद्दों के प्रति जागरूकता दिखाना, उसके प्रति खडें होना व उसे सम्बोधित करने के लिए आवश्ययक कदम उठाना
• सरकारी या गैरसरकारी संस्थाओं के साथ जुड़कर विविध सामाजिक तथा प्राकृतिक मुद्दों को सुलझाने में मदद करना

સામાજિક જાગૃતિનો અર્થ ધર્મ, જાતિ, લિંગ, ક્ષમતા, જાતીયતા, સામાજિક-આર્થિક સ્તર, ભૌગોલિક સ્થાન વગેરેના સંદર્ભમાં વિવિધ પૃષ્ઠભૂમિના લોકો સાથે સુમેળ સાધી અને કામ કરવાની ક્ષમતા એવો થાય છે. તેનો અર્થ સમજવાની, માનુભૂતિ દર્શાવવાની અને સ્વીકારવાની ક્ષમતા છે. તે આપણા પોતાના કરતા અલગ લોકો અને પ્રથાઓને સમજવા, સહાનુભૂતિ અને સ્વીકારવાની ક્ષમતા છે. તે જવાબદાર નાગરિકો તરીકે આપણા અધિકારો અને ફરજોને ઓળખવાની અને તેનો ઉપયોગ કરવાની ક્ષમતા પણ છે.

સામાજિક જાગૃતિમાં સ્થાનિક અને આંતરરાષ્ટ્રીય પર્યાવરણીય ચિંતાઓ પ્રત્યે સંવેદનશીલ હોવું, સામાજિક મુદ્દાઓથી અવગત થવું અને તેના નિરાકરણમાં સામેલ થવું, અન્ય લોકોના અધિકારોનું સન્માન કરવું અને તેનું રક્ષણ કરવું, ખાસ કરીને (દા.ત. બાળકો, વૃદ્ધો, વિકલાંગ લોકો, આર્થિક અને સામાજિક રીતે હાંસિયામાં ધકેલાઈ ગયેલી વ્યક્તિઓ અને સમુદાયો જવા સંવેદનશીલ ફ્યોનો સમાવેશ થાય છે )નો સમાવેશ થાય છે. અને સમુદાયો વગેરે), આ રીતે તે સમાજની સામૂહિક સુખાકારીમાં યોગદાન આપે છે.

● તેમના મિત્રોની મૂળ ભાષાઓ અને સાંસ્કૃતિક પ્રથાઓ વિશે જાણવામાં રસ દર્શાવો.
● તે જૂથમાં મિત્રો અથવા સભ્યોનો વિવિધ સમૂહ તેમના પરિપ્રેક્ષ્ય અને સહજ જીવનને વિકાસ કેવી રીતે સ્પષ્ટ કરી શકશે.
● તેમની મૂળભૂત જરૂરિયાતો, લાગણીઓ, અન્ય લોકો પાસેથી અપેક્ષાઓ વગેરે અંગે વૈવિધ્યસભર લોકોમાં સમાનતા નક્કી કરવામાં સક્ષમ બનશે.
● તેમના સમુદાયની અથવા પડોશની જરૂરિયાતો/સમસ્યાઓનું પૃથ્થકરણ કરી શકશે અને તેના નિરાકરણ માટેની યોજના બનાવી શકશે.
● અન્યની નબળાઈઓને ઓળખી શકશે અને જરૂર પડ્યે સ્વીકારવા, રક્ષણ કરવા અને મદદ કરવા પણ તૈયાર હશે.
● ચોક્કસ સામાજિક કારણો પ્રત્યે જાગૃતિ દર્શાવી શકશે, વલણ અપનાવી શકશે અને તેમને સંબોધિત કરવા માટે નક્કર પગલાંનો ઉપયોગ કરી શકશે.
● વિવિધ સામાજિક અને પર્યાવરણીય કારણોમાં મદદ અને યોગદાન આપતી સંસ્થાઓ અને નાગરિક સંસ્થાઓમાં સામેલ થવા માટે સક્ષમ હશે.

ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಜಾಗೃತಿಯು ಧರ್ಮ, ಜಾತಿ, ಲಿಂಗ, ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯ, ಲೈಂಗಿಕ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಕೋನ, ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ-ಆರ್ಥಿಕ ಸ್ಥಿತಿ, ಭೌಗೋಳಿಕ ಸ್ಥಾನ ಇತ್ಯಾದಿ ಆಧಾರದ ಮೇಲೆ ವೈವಿಧ್ಯಮಯ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯ ಜನರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸಂಪರ್ಕ ಹೊಂದುವ ಮತ್ತು ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುವ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯವಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದು ನಮಗಿಂತ ಭಿನ್ನವಾಗಿರುವ ಜನರನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ಅಭ್ಯಾಸಗಳನ್ನು ಅರ್ಥಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ, ಪರಾನುಭೂತಿ ಹೊಂದುವ ಮತ್ತು ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದನ್ನು ಒಳಗೊಂಡಿದೆ. ಇದು ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿಯುತ ನಾಗರೀಕರಾಗಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಹಕ್ಕುಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಪಾತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸುವ ಮತ್ತು ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುವ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯ ಕೂಡ ಆಗಿದೆ.

ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಜಾಗೃತಿಯು ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಹಾಗೂ ಜಾಗತಿಕ ಕಾಳಜಿಗಳೆಡೆಗೆ ಸಂವೇದನೆ ಹೊಂದುವ, ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಲುಕಿರುವ ಜನರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಅರಿವು ಹೊಂದುವ,  ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ದುರ್ಬಲ ಗುಂಪಿನ (ಉದಾ: ಮಕ್ಕಳು, ಹಿರಿಯ ನಾಗರೀಕರು, ವಿಶೇಷ ಚೇತನರು, ಆರ್ಥಿಕವಾಗಿ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕವಾಗಿ ಹಿಂದುಳಿದ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಸಮುದಾಯ ಇತ್ಯಾದಿ)   ಹಕ್ಕುಗಳನ್ನು ಗೌರವಿಸುವ  ಮತ್ತು ರಕ್ಷಿಸುವುದನ್ನು ಒಳಗೊಂಡಿದೆ.

ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯು ಈ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗುವುದು:

  • ತಮ್ಮ ಹಾಗೂ ಜೊತೆಗಾರರ  ನಡುವಿನ ಸಮಾನತೆ ಮತ್ತು  ವ್ಯತ್ಯಾಸಗಳನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸುವುದು.
  • ತಮ್ಮ  ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರ ಮಾತೃ ಭಾಷೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಆಚರಣೆಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯುವ ಆಸಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ತೋರುವುದು.
  • ಗುಂಪಿನಲ್ಲಿನ ವೈವಿಧ್ಯಮಯ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರು ಅಥವಾ ಸದಸ್ಯರು ಹೇಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಕೋನ ಹಾಗೂ ಜೀವನವನ್ನು ಅಭಿವ್ಯಕ್ತಗೊಳಿಸುವರು ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸುವುದು. 
  • ವೈವಿಧ್ಯಮಯ ಜನರ ನಡುವಿನ ಸಮಾನ ಅಂಶಗಳನ್ನು – ಅವರ ಮೂಲಭೂತ ಅಗತ್ಯತೆಗಳು, ಭಾವನೆ,  ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆಗಳು ಇತ್ಯಾದಿಗಳನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸುವುದು.
  • ಸಮುದಾಯದ ಅಥವ ನೆರೆಹೊರೆಯವರ ಅಗತ್ಯತೆಗಳು / ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳನ್ನು ವಿಶ್ಲೇಷಿಸುವುದು ಮತ್ತು ಅದರಿಂದ ಹೊರಬರಲು ಯೋಜನೆಯನ್ನು ರೂಪಿಸುವುದು.
  • ಇತರರ ದೌರ್ಬಲ್ಯವನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಿ, ಅಗತ್ಯವಿದ್ದಾಗ ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸುವುದು, ರಕ್ಷಿಸುವುದು ಮತ್ತು ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡುವುದು.
  • ನಿರ್ದಿಷ್ಟ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಕಾರಣಗಳ ಕುರಿತು ಅರಿವು ಹೊಂದುವುದು, ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ನಿಭಾಯಿಸಲು ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟ ನಿಲುವು ಮತ್ತು ನಿರ್ದಿಷ್ಟ ಹಂತಗಳನ್ನು ಅನುಸರಿಸುವುದು.
  • ವಿವಿಧ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಪರಿಸರದ ಕಾರಣಗಳಿಗೆ  ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡುವ ಮತ್ತು ಕೊಡುಗೆ ನೀಡುವ ನಾಗರಿಕ ಸಂಘ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು.
