Self-Efficacy is the belief we have in our own capacity and abilities to meet the challenges ahead of us and complete a task successfully. It reflects confidence in our ability to exert control over our own motivation, behaviour, and social environment. Self-Efficacy has two key components – the belief that ability can grow with effort and the belief in that ability to meet specific goals and expectations.

Self-Efficacy is seen as positively affecting motivation and performance. Students with high self-efficacy also tend to have high optimism, resulting in better academic performance, more effective personal adjustment, better coping with stress, better health, and higher overall satisfaction.

Self-Efficacy In Action

The person will be able to:

  • Work hard towards a particular goal with the belief that genuine efforts always pay off.
  • Deal efficiently with unexpected events with confidence.
  • Remain calm when facing difficulties knowing they can rely on their coping abilities.
  • Overcome many challenges successfully.
  • Perform effectively on many different tasks.
  • Develop just about any skill if they practise every day.
  • Change their basic level of ability to a significant level.

आपल्या समोर असलेल्या आव्हानांना पेलण्याच्या दृष्टिकोनातून आणि नेमून दिलेले काम यशस्वीपणे पूर्ण करण्याच्या दृष्टिकोनातून आपल्या क्षमता आणि कुवत यावर आपला असलेला ठाम विश्वास म्हणजे स्वसामर्थ्य होय. यातून आपला आपल्या स्वयंप्रेरणा, वर्तणूक आणा सामाजिक वातावरण यावर प्रयत्नपूर्वक असणाऱ्या नियंत्रणाच्या क्षमतेवर असणारा आपला आत्मविश्वास प्रतिबिंबित होतो. स्वसामर्थ्य या क्षमतेत दोन मुख्य घटक आहेतक्षमता ही प्रयत्नाने वाढवू शकतो ही ठाम समजूत आणि विशिष्ट ध्येय आणि अपेक्षा यांच्यापर्यंत पोहोचण्याच्या क्षमतेवर असणारा ठाम विश्वास.

स्वसामर्थ्य ही क्षमता प्रेरणा आणि कामगिरी यावर सकारात्मकरीत्या परीणाम करत असल्याचे पाहिले गेले आहे. ज्या विद्यार्थ्यांकडे मोठ्या प्रमाणात स्वसामर्थ्य क्षमता असते त्यांचा कल उच्च आशावाद, परीणामतः उत्तम तऱ्हेने शैक्षणिक कामगिरी, अधिक प्रभावीपणे वैयक्तिक तडजोडी, ताणतणावाशी उत्तम तऱ्हेने सामना करणे, चांगले आरोग्य आणि एकूणच उच्च समाधान याकडे असल्याचे देखील दिसून आले आहे.

स्व-सामर्थ्य या कौशल्याची व्यवहारातील अभिव्यक्ती

हे कौशल्य आत्मसात केलेली व्यक्ती पुढील गोष्टी करण्यासाठी सक्षम झालेली दिसते.

  • मनापासून केलेले प्रयत्न नेहमीच यशस्वी होतात, अशा ठाम समजूतीसह एका विशिष्ट ध्येयाच्या दिशेने मेहनतीने काम करा.
