Metacognition

noun | [ met-uh-kog-nish-uhn ]

Metacognition is the ability to understand our own thinking, recognise what we know and what we do not know, and organise our thinking processes accordingly. It refers to a set of processes we use to monitor ongoing thoughts so as to effectively control our own behaviour. It also includes our ability to monitor, regulate and control our own activities concerning learning and take effective responsibility for our own learning.

Metacognition plays an important role in essentially all cognitive tasks, from everyday behaviours and problem solving to expert performance in the various disciplines.

Metacognition In Action

The person is able to:

  • Reflect on their own thoughts and behaviour.
  • Reflect and identify what they know and do not know about a subject.
  • Think and plan on how to approach a learning task.
  • Identify distractions while working on a task.
  • Evaluate their progress toward the completion of a task.
  • Use appropriate skills and strategies to solve a problem.
  • Self-assess and self-correct in response to the self-assessment.
  • Develop greater awareness of their actions and the effects of the same on others and the environment.
  • Exhibit maturity in accepting their own limits to change.

आपली स्वतःची विचार करण्याची क्षमता समजून घेण्याची, आपल्याला काय माहित आहे आणि आपल्याला काय माहित नाही, हे ओळखण्याची आणि त्यानुसार आपल्या वैचारिक प्रक्रियेचे संयोजन करण्याची क्षमता म्हणजे आकलनविषयक गोष्टींचा सूक्ष्म अभ्यास होय. याचा संदर्भ अशा प्रक्रियांच्या संचासाठी दिला जातो ज्याचा आपण सातत्याने सुरू असणाऱ्या विचारांवर देखरेख करण्यासाठी वापर करतो ज्यातून आपण आपल्या स्वतःच्या वर्तणूकीचे प्रभावीपणे नियंत्रण करत असतो. यात आपल्या स्वतःच्या शिकण्याची प्रभावीपणे जबाबदारी घेणे आणि शिकण्याच्या संदर्भातील आपण करत असलेल्या उपक्रमांविषयक देखरेखीच्या, नियमनाच्या आणि नियंत्रणाच्या आपल्या क्षमतांचासुद्धा यात समावेश असतो.

हे कौशल्य आत्मसात केलेली व्यक्ती पुढील गोष्टी करण्यासाठी सक्षम झालेली दिसते.

  • त्यांचे स्वतःचे विचार आणि वर्तणूक यावर मनन करणे.

अनुभूति से परे सोचना

यह कौशल हमें अपनी सोच को समझने की योग्यता है कि हम क्या जानते है व क्या नहीं जानते हुए उनसे  पहचान करवाती है और उसके अनुसार हमारी सोच प्रक्रिया को व्यवस्थित करती है। यह प्रक्रियाों के समूह को इंगित करती है जो  हमारे विचारों पर नजर रखती है जिसके द्वारा हम अपने व्यवहार को प्रभावशाली ढंग से अनियंत्रित करते है इसमे हमारी अपनी सीखने से सम्बन्धित गतिविधियों की निगरानी करना, नियमन तथा नियंत्रित करने के साथ अपने स्वयं के सीखने की प्रभावी रूप से जिम्मेदारी लेने की योग्यता भी शामिल है।

यह कौशल हमारे सारे संज्ञानात्मक कार्य जैसे हमारा दैनिक  व्यवहार / बर्ताव, समस्या समाधान करना आदि में महत्तवपूर्ण भूमिका अदा करता है।

अनुभूति से परे सोचना इस कौशल के व्यवहार में

व्यक्ति यह करने में सक्षम हो सकेगा :
• अपने विचार तथा व्यवहार पर चिंतन करना।
• किसी विषय के बारे में क्या मालूम है और क्या मालूम नहीं इसको पहचानकर चिंतन करना।
• सीखे हुए कार्य के प्रति किस तरह दृष्टिकोण रखना है इस पर सोच समझ कर योजना बनाना।
• कार्य के दौरान आनेवाली बाधाओं को पहचानना।
• किसी कार्य की पूर्णता की ओर अपनी प्रगति का मूल्यांकन करना ।
• समस्या का समाधान करने के लिए उचित नीतियों एवं कौशलो का उपयोग करना।
• स्व-मूल्यांकन के लिए स्व-आकलन और आत्मसुधार करना ।
• अपने कार्यो का दूसरों पर या परिवेश पर होनेवाले असर और उसके परिणामों के प्रति जागरूक होना ।
• बदलाव के लिए स्वयं की सीमाओं को स्वीकारते हुए परिपक्वता का प्रदर्शन करना।
